I typically use NVidia's HDMI into a spare home theater stereo that I use for my audio. I know that on my desktop pc, I can only get sound through just the Realtek chip. I'm just curious if there was something to do with it being that it can't tap into Windows sound api. Nah I'm using my Laptop in this case, so no Creative Sound Card. You say DSOUND, you don't have a soundblaster card by any change, if so creative have theyre own Creative Alchemy app where you can export dsound.dll and dsound.ini to the game root directory HKCR,DirectSound\CLSID,\InprocServer32,"ThreadingModel","Both" Does any of this need to be changed in Windows 10? There is a file in the C:\Program Files (x86)\RESIDENT EVIL for dsound for setup information.
